MAC (Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabarets) Nominee & Broadway World Cabaret Award Winner, Becca Kidwell is a New York based singer-songwriter. Becca’s delight in storytelling through song draws influence from Mary Chapin Carpenter, Carole King, Tori Amos, Barry Manilow, Rachel Bloom, musical theatre, as well as popular standards.
Although she holds a Bachelor Degree in Drama from the University of Georgia with a focus in directing, Becca never imagined that she would be a performer. Becca tenuously entered into the world of performance for her fortieth birthday with a single performance to thank her friends and family for their support over the years. Surprised by the joy that came from singing, she waded further into the waters of cabaret by joining the Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabaret (MAC) and began to put together her debut show A Song and Its Girl with the assistance of award-winning cabaret artists: Tracy Stark and Gretchen Reinhagen. This show garnered Becca her 2018 MAC Award Nomination for Best New York Debut – Female. She has created four other shows to much acclaim, which include: Fangirl, Show of Dares Volume 1, My Maybe World: the music of Mary Chapin Carpenter (which won the 2021 Broadway World Cabaret Award for Best Tribute Show), Together Inside, and Show of Dares Volume 2. She has had the opportunity to work with many cabaret and jazz luminaries including Meg Flather with the award-winning show Meg Flather Songs: A Cabaret Sisterhood, Jeff Harnar, Matt Baker, Nicole Zuraitis, and Kristine Zbornik, among others. She was fortunate to be featured in the demo recording for The Church of the Alien Love Child Presents: The Passion of Rev. Yolanda.
Becca’s show Together Inside features her first full musical composition, the title song, “Together Inside.” Her Show of Dares Volume 2 featured her second single “Cause It’s Christmastime.” Both singles are being released December 2022 worldwide on all streaming platforms. Becca has been writing new songs for the past two years and hopes to put out an album by her fiftieth birthday. Always moving forward, Becca has ideas stirring for new show for the end of 2022 and another for the beginning of 2023. Becca is also a member of the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA) and hopes to bring her shows to her friends and family in Boston in the future.
